Il rinnovato interesse per Anselmo d’Aosta, sviluppatosi nella seconda metà del Novecento, ha visto indagati molteplici aspetti del Dottore Magnifico tra i quali l’orizzonte mistico. D’altro lato, la riscoperta della mistica cristiana ha posto in evidenza come «l’incontro con Cristo» sia un momento essenziale e costitutivo. Si pone, allora, la domanda di come sia possibile conciliare, in Anselmo, la dimensione mistica e il metodo teologico dell’astrazione da Cristo (remoto Christo). Il contributo prende in esame, del Dottore di Aosta, l’opera cristologica della maturità, il Cur Deus homo, e giunge alla conclusione che in Anselmo l’astrazione da Cristo è logica ma non ontologica, manca come premessa ma è presente come appartenenza.

The renewed interest in St Anselm of Aosta in the second half of the 20th century has seen investigations of the multiple aspects of the Magnificent Doctor, among which is the mystical one. The rediscovery of Christian mysticism has stressed how “the meeting with Christ” is an essential and fundamental moment. One poses then the question of how it is possible to reconcile in Anselm the mystical dimension and the theological method of the abstraction from Christ (remoto Cristo). The article examines St Anselm’s Christological work of his maturity, the Cur Deus homo, and reaches the conclusion that for Anselm the abstraction from Christ is logical but not ontological, lacking as premise but present as belonging.
