Siamo o no responsabili dei soggetti futuri? E, se è si, in che misura lo siamo? Tesi dell’articolo è che tra le tante teorie che hanno discusso la possibilità o meno di dare un fondamento all’etica intergenerazionale, l’unica a riuscirvi sia solo la fenomenologia dell’alterità, la quale, rivisitando l’idea di soggetto, di temporalità, di comunità e di responsabilità, sostituita dalla responsività, propone un’etica intergenerazionale non più a partire dall’ontologia, ma dall’appellatività che proviene dal futuro e che ci fa uscire dalla tirannia del presente.

Are we or are we not responsible towards future subjects? If so, how far do we hold such a responsibility? The thrust of this paper is that among the many theories which tackle the issue of intergenerational ethics the only one capable of giving an apt foundation thereto is the one based on a phenomenology of alterity. This is a phenomenology which, by reinterpreting the idea of subjectivity, temporality, community and responsibility intended as responsivity, proposes a kind of intergenerational ethics that refuses all ontological underpinning, thereby harking back to the very interpellation of the future as a way out from the tyranny of the present.
